At New Hope Funeral Home, we have taken steps to make the casket selection process as easy as possible. You may choose from a variety of metal and wooden caskets on display in our casket selection room. Each casket is marked with a detailed description, price, and model number. Or, if you prefer to select a casket from the comfort of your own home, you may view our full-color catalog that includes a list of options and prices.

Metal Caskets are made of bronze, copper, stainless steel or coated steel. Most metal caskets are sealed with a protective rubber gasket, which will resist the entrance of moisture or other graveside substances. The type and thickness of the metal used, the workmanship and interior fabric will affect the quality and the price of the casket.

Protective metal caskets are made of the following materials:

  • Solid Bronze:
Bronze is a naturally non-rusting material and is the most durable.
  • Solid Copper:
Copper metal, like bronze is a naturally non-rusting material. Copper caskets are also known for their durability; however, copper is a softer metal than bronze.
  • Stainless Steel: Stainless steel caskets are constructed of metal containing carbon steel and chromium. These caskets are also resistant to rust and corrosion. There are two grades of stainless steel caskets.
  • Steel:
Coated to protect against rust and corrosion, our steel caskets are made from three different gauges of steel -- 16 gauge (heaviest), 18 gauge (average) and 20 gauge (lightest).

Wood Caskets

Caskets made of the finest hardwoods are assembled by skilled craftsmen with the same care and attention to detail as a piece of fine furniture. Non-protective, wood caskets are available in a variety of solid woods and are chosen for their warmth and beauty. The individual grain patterns of a wooden casket make it truly unique.

Wood is a renewable resource and many casket companies participate in state and private tree planting programs.

Cloth covered, pressed wood caskets are also available.

Cremation Merchandise

You can choose urns of cast bronze, sheet bronze, ceramic, marble, cultured marble, granite or various woods like oak, cherry, mahogany or poplar. Urn costs will vary depending on material and the intricacy of the design.

Burial Vaults

The burial vault is an outer burial container that protects the casket and the deceased against moisture, the weight of the earth and the elements in a ground burial.

In some states, burial vaults are not required by law, but most cemeteries require the use of a vault designed to accommodate the casket. Vaults are constructed of copper, stainless steel, galvanized steel, fiberglass, coated concrete, asphalt coated concrete, or plain concrete. Vaults are generally categorized as:

  • Top seal
  • Airdome (seals at the base)
  • Concrete box (non sealing)
  • Monuments

A monument is the final and lasting tribute to a loved one. It is an artistic creation, symbolic of love and remembrance.

Granite, chosen for its beauty and endurance, is available at New Hope in a variety of colors that are resistant to our ever-changing weather conditions. The price of granite monuments is based on the type and quality of the selected granite, size and the number of polished surfaces.

Bronze, chosen for it's blending of traditional legacy and the strength of artistic sculptures, is available at New Hope in a variety of designs. The cost of a bronze monument is based on the quality of bronze and the design style.
